Welcome to Gladness and Hunger! In this space, I’ll share independent writings, sermons, curricula, and anything I can think of that is upbuilding and constructive for those seeking to know God better, and to ponder the mystery of the Bible and the Christian tradition.

In addition to my love for writing, this space came into being to meet a need. Within contemporary Christianity, there is a lack of content that is intellectually sophisticated, useful for audiences outside of academia, progressive, and a product of genuine piety. Gladness and Hunger is an attempt to share this sort of content with a larger audience.

Ultimately, what you read here will reflect a deep conviction in the wisdom of the Christian tradition, a deep love for the teachings, history, and polity of the United Methodist Church, a deep reverence for the Bible, and a deep awareness of the limitations of all of these things in truly expressing the awesomeness, inscrutability, majesty, power, love, and paradoxical nature of God as revealed in Jesus Christ. Gladness and Hunger is not intended to be a hammer against those who might disagree with it’s content. This blog makes no pretense of ending the search for faith, either for non-Christians or Christians. Rather, it is my hope that this blog starts many excellent conversations about life’s biggest questions, and that, as a result, it makes life better for you, my readers. out As

I look forward to exploring the mystery of faith with each of you!
